Potential Why I Ride Sponsors,
Why I ride offers sponsors eight-months and 10,000 miles of high visibility in return for your support of Why I Ride and my mission to help those in need. On the first of June, 2007 my route begins in Prudhoe Bay, Alaska, and concludes thirteen states, three Provinces, and twenty-two National Parks later in my hometown of Cullowhee, North Carolina. The route winds across 10,000-miles of the wildest country in North America. I'll begin at the Arctic Ocean, navigate the wilderness of western Canada, come down through the Rockies and across the plains, and skirt the Gulf of Mexico before concluding the trip in the heart of the Great Smoky Mountains. This will be no easy task, but compared to what many people living in poverty confront everyday, this is a walk in the park.
I ride to raise at least $25,000 for a number of charities and will volunteer my own time along the way wherever and however the opportunities present themselves. I will ride to communicate the importance of donating time and money to help the needy. I will ride to lead by example and show the importance and capability of the bicycle as a means of transportation. I will ride to teach Americans the benefits of clean energy, conservation, and education. I will ride to make a difference.
The money raised by the expedition will be distributed among the following charities: Heifer International, Teach for America, the Conservation Fund, UMCOR, and the United Fund of Jackson County, NC. Rest assured that each of these charities is top-rated in their charitable category and that they do an excellent job at spreading their proceeds to those individuals and places that need the most help.
Your contribution to the trip through corporate donations to the charities or in equipment to help me achieve this epic mission will benefit your organization in many ways. Your organization will benefit from the positive energy and extensive media opportunities that Why I Ride can offer. Why I Ride’s media campaign will work hard to bring publicity to your company through several different markets throughout North America. Why I Ride will specifically target all forms of printed materials (newspapers, journals, and magazines), Internet media outlets, and will strive for regional and National television coverage. Why I Ride presentations will professionally recognize your products and/or contributions to the 501(c)3 tax-deductible charities.
Preation Inc., an industry leader in web services, will maintain the official site of Why I Ride, www.whyiride.org. The website will allow me to have beautiful slideshows of my finest pictures, integrated GPS tracking, and a comprehensive journal including a bi-monthly newsletter, all while I am on the road! The website will proudly display your corporate logo, product/services information, and a link to your website(s). Why I Ride understands the importance of its corporate partners and will do what it takes to spotlight generous sponsors and include them in all ongoing media and online coverage of the trip.
The 10,000 miles under my own self-power coupled with my strong determination to make this a success for those in need guarantees the attributes necessary for a great story in a variety of high circulation publications. Why I Ride will pursue publicity within your target audience throughout the entire eight-month journey.
If your company is interested in joining the Why I Ride team and would like to make a financial donation to the charities or equipment contributions to the trip please contact me. Thank you for considering a contribution to my project and welcome to the Why I Ride team! (See specific Sponsor benefits listed below)
